A little about me...
Mitchell is the owner of North and Light Counseling LLC. Mitchell is a seasoned mental health professional operating as a private Christian counselor with over a decade of experience across a variety of settings, including residential treatment, addiction live-in group homes, and school counseling. He has worked extensively with individuals of all ages—children, adolescents, adults, and families—and specializes in areas such as addiction (substance abuse, video game, and phone addiction), trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, problematic sexual behavior, and dysfunctional family dynamics. Mitchell holds certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapy, with academic concentrations in child and adolescent therapy and substance abuse treatment.
Mitchell utilizes a person-centered therapeutic approach, grounded in core values of compassion, confidentiality, empathy, partnership, faith and integrity. He is dedicated to providing individualized, solution-focused care, and employs a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory, and existential psychotherapy. His clinical experience extends to working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
Having completed 4,000 LPCC hours of supervised clinical training under Dr. Corey P., LP, PhD, LMFT. Mitchell transitioned to private practice with the intention of integrating his Christian faith into his counseling work. He decided to not become licensed due to the L.P.C.C board's stance on gender. Mitchell does not accept insurance, but does offer payment plans. He is deeply committed to serving his community by offering a holistic approach to therapy, helping clients achieve significant personal transformation while respecting their diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and identities.
Mitchell firmly believes that meaningful change is attainable for everyone, even though the process can be challenging. He views personal growth as a collaborative effort, where clients, through vulnerability and shared understanding, can find hope, strength, and resilience.
Outside of his work as a counselor, Mitchell has worked as a part-time missionary for the past 10 years. Mitchell is a devoted husband and father of three boys. He enjoys gardening, woodworking, disc golf, and quality coffee. His personal faith is central to his life, and he encourages clients to embrace their authentic selves, fostering trust and creating a foundation for lasting change. Mitchell looks forward to connecting with individuals from all walks of life and meeting them where they are on their journey.
